Asia's Largest Continuous Reformer Launches in Dalian

On June 23rd, Dalian Petrochemical Company newly built the largest 2.2 million-ton/year continuous reformer unit in Asia, which began to pump oil to the reactor and successfully produced hydrogen and other products. This signified that the equipment was successfully started once. As the core device of Dalian Petrochemical's sulfur-containing oil technical renovation project, the start-up of the plant will be of great significance for Dalian Petrochemical to achieve annual primary and secondary processing capacity of 20.5 million tons this year, and to build China's largest and world-class refinery base.
This project is an important strategic project approved by the State Council for the development of refining and chemical enterprises to ensure energy security, including 7 sets of production equipment and production supporting systems, with a total investment of 10.7 billion yuan. In March 2005, Dalian Petrochemical first built and put into operation a 10 million-ton/year atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit. By the end of May this year, the latter six units have completed the construction of the project, and will be put into operation one after another during the year.
The 2.2 million-ton/year continuous reorganization unit was the first of the last six units to be put into production. This set of equipment has been built since June 2006 and has adopted the most advanced production technology both at home and abroad. The combined equipment includes 2.2 million tons/year continuous reforming, 1 million tons/year aromatics extraction, and 160,000 standard/hour PSA. Facilities and substations and other supporting facilities have a total investment of 1.173 billion yuan. The continuous reformer can produce high-octane gasoline components with sulfur content less than 0.5 PPM, which is 49.5 PPM lower than the Euro IV standard gasoline sulfur content. The hydrogen production capacity of this unit is 110,000 standard hours per hour, which provides a hydrogen source for production equipment such as hydrogenation of coal-diesel and hydrogenation of residual oil to improve the quality of petrochemical products and clean production.
