U-blox Launches Universal Ultra-Small GSM Module-SARA

U-blox, a global leader in positioning and wireless modules and chips for the consumer, industrial and automotive markets, announces the launch of a new SARA product line, which is a universal, low power, cost-conscious application. GSM/GPRS module products.

The SARA module is housed in a compact 16 x 26 mm LGA package and is an ideal solution for a wide range of M2M applications, meeting dual or quad-band GSM/GPRS, voice and/or data, and Internet functions (embedded TCP/ IP, UDP/IP, HTTP, and FTP requirements, and support for the in-band modem functionality required for eCall and ERA GLONASS emergency call applications. In addition, the power consumption of SARA modules is extremely low, making them ideal for portable applications.

SARA modules are ideal for M2M and automotive applications such as Automatic Meter Reading (AMR), Remote Monitoring Automation and Control (RMAC), Surveillance and Security, Road Pricing, Asset Tracking, Fleet Management, Security Systems, and Point-of-Sale (PoS) terminals. select.

SARA uses a Land Grid Array (LGA) package to enable a compact and simple design, and easily migrates to u-blox's LISA UMTS and CDMA modules through PCB layout compatibility . A-GPS support and u-blox's unique CellLocateTM positioning technology are built into the module and can be used to develop advanced vehicle-car communication applications such as indoor positioning.

RIL software supporting Android and Embedded Windows is provided free of charge.

The factories responsible for manufacturing the SARA modules have obtained ISO/TS 16949 certification. Each module has passed rigorous inspection and testing during the production process. All modules will be fully certified in accordance with the ISO 16750 environmental standards for electrical testing of road vehicle electrical and electronic equipment to ensure high durability and reliability.

SARA-G350, the first member of the SARA series, will begin sampling in the fourth quarter of 2012 and is expected to begin mass production in the first quarter of 2013.
