GM and SAIC Group to Jointly Use Vehicles in India


General Motors Co. India subsidiary GM India (GM India) said on Friday that General Motors has formed a partnership with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (Group), SAIC A joint venture will develop and produce commercial vehicles and other products in India.

GM India stated that the company can take this opportunity to use GM's stable cooperation with China to produce minivans and other products.

GM India's two factories in Gujarat and Maharashtra respectively will be responsible for the production of the above-mentioned cars, and the products will be sold in the Indian domestic market or exported overseas.

General Motors India stated that it is expected that General Motors and SAIC will soon finalize a cooperation agreement. New car production will create more employment opportunities in India.

General Motors India currently sells seven Chevrolet sedan and sport utility vehicles, including the Spark minivan, Aveo and Optra sedan, and Captiva sports utility vehicle.
