June 2011 Buick GL8 Wins MPV Sales Championship

According to statistics from China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in June, a total of 1,109,200 passenger cars were sold, a year-on-year increase of 6.05%, an increase of 6.21% year-on-year. Among them, the sales of multi-function passenger vehicles (MPVs) were 40,300, an increase of 10.83% compared with the previous period, and an increase of 16.69% year-on-year.

In June, the top five MPV brands in terms of sales volume were: Buick GL8, King Yi, Ruifeng, Touran and Odyssey, which sold 6,595 vehicles, 5,528 vehicles, 4,239 vehicles, 3,327 vehicles and 3,259 vehicles respectively. Compared with the previous month, King Plaza declined, and other brands showed a certain growth. Among them, the growth rates of Touran and Odyssey were more significant. In June, the above five brands sold a total of 22,900 vehicles, accounting for 57% of the total sales of MPVs.

In the first half of the year, the top five MPV brands in terms of sales volume were Buick GL8, Jingyi, Ruifeng, Senya, and Touran, which sold 37,200, 35,600, 33,200, 18,600 and 12,800, respectively. In the first half of the year, the above five brands sold a total of 137,400 vehicles, which accounted for 58% of the total sales of MPVs.
