High-tech inventory of smart cars

Laser headlight

The light emitted by the laser headlamp has only one wavelength, which means stronger light intensity and light gathering performance. The combination of laser headlamps and matrix LED light technology enhances safety while saving energy. BMW previously announced that it will use the laser headlamp technology for the first time on the BMW i8. Similarly, Audi recently announced its Sportquattrolaserlight concept with its headlamp technology.

Lidar

Lidar is the core technology used in ACC (active cruise control system) that realizes automatic control of the vehicle speed and future automatic driving. The surrounding shape can be recognized three-dimensionally in real time by the irradiated laser light and its reflected light. It can also be compared with the map information to infer the current location. The Google Driverless Vehicle has traveled thousands of miles at a speed of about 35 miles per hour in the streets of a small community on the outskirts of Mountain View, California.

SMS locking system

While the rapid development of entertainment information technology in the car, the hidden dangers of driving distraction gradually emerged. Sprint has introduced an innovative tool that can lock the text message while the vehicle is in motion. The device is plugged into the vehicle panel via the on-board OBDII diagnostic interface. It can lock the SMS and web browsing functions of smartphones connected to the on-board system. At this point, if the mobile phone receives a text message, it will be stored and the owner can read it while parking.

Pedestrian detection technology

General Motors is currently developing a new pedestrian detection technology that will enable the driver to automatically make evasive moves when the driver has not found pedestrians or other road users ahead. The system is based on the Wi-FiDirect network. It does not transit through a shared road signal base station. Instead, it uses point-to-point wireless network mode to make smartphones directly obtain information.

Automatic lane change technology

BMW and its supplier Continental have recently prepared a large-scale road test for a brand-new technology to allow vehicles to automatically change lanes without relying on manual intervention by drivers. They hope this technology can be used in production cars within 3-5 years. In addition to BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and other car companies also want to add more advanced features to the current driver assistance system. Automatic lane change technology enables vehicles to perform functions such as automatic lane change and overtaking on high-speed roads that are not smooth.

"Driver awareness exploration" technology

At the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, Toyota introduced a DAR-V concept of “Driver Awareness Exploration.” Through the touch screen mounted on the side window glass of this car, drivers can get traffic, weather, appointments, etc. before departure. The information will even mark the location of the gas station passing through the road section. With the remote control, multiple planning tasks can be planned on the window display.

Automatic parking

The automatic parking system can be considered as one of the constituent systems of the automatic driving technology system. Ford, Volvo and other large car companies have introduced similar technologies this year, and even ZF, the component manufacturer, has also launched its parking applications. Imagine that you are driving into a parking lot with only the last remaining parking space and no space to open the door when you park the vehicle. In this case, with Ford's automatic parking assistance, the driver does not need to be in the car and the vehicle can automatically enter or exit the parking space 100%.

Gesture Recognition/Sensing Technology

Not long ago, Google announced that it had applied for a gesture-based self-driving car patent. This further promotes the application of self-driving cars. This gesture-based patent for a self-driving car can adjust the air conditioner fan speed, air conditioner temperature, radio volume, wiper, driver's seat, and window glass position according to the driver's gestures.

Intermodal navigation

Intermodal navigation system will make analysis based on real-time traffic conditions. When the surrounding traffic is extremely congested, it will remind drivers to use a more convenient means of transportation to reach their destination. In addition to this, the system will also indicate the nearest bus stop from the current location. While providing optional public transportation, the bus schedule will be compared with the current time, providing drivers with the most time-saving solution.

smart watch

Mercedes-Benz launched the Pebble Smart Watch at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show and launched the matching DigitalDriveStyle application. The Pebble Smart Watch is equivalent to the "second screen" of the driver's smartphone. This innovative wearable device unveiled a new configuration for connected cars. For example, when the driver is outside the vehicle, information such as fuel remaining, door lock status, and vehicle position can be obtained from the Pebble watch.
