According to the sales data collected by Gasgoo.com, the wholesale sales of China's own-brand SUV models from January to July 2011 totaled 333,600, a year-on-year increase of 11.7%. Its growth rate was only half of the overall growth of the SUV market (also based on wholesale sales); its sales accounted for only 38.1% of the total sales of SUVs, down 4.4 percentage points from the same period last year (42.5%). In July alone, the total sales volume of self-owned brand SUVs was 41700, accounting for only 32.8%.
Ten domestically produced foreign-funded mid-to-high-end SUVs (of which Hanlanda only takes 2.7L) accounted for 65.3% and 64.1% of total sales of SUVs in the January-July and July months of last year. Other autonomous SUV brands: Seahorses have the fastest growth from January to July. Lifan SUVs are significantly inferior to BYD's other self-owned SUV brands. Sales of more than 1,000 vehicles in July this year included hippocampus, Changfeng, Ruiqi, ZTE, Jiangling, Yellow Sea and Beiqi. Among them, the fastest growing sales volume is the ZTE brand - an increase of 26.4% year-on-year to 1,312 units. Lifan's X60, a SUV product listed at the Shanghai Auto Show this year, sold 456 units in July, a far cry from BYD's S6 performance (5068 units).
The sales of Gonow's SUV from January to July this year fell 49.0% to 1519, of which July sales fell 75.7% to 111 units. Dongfeng Group's Dongfeng brand SUV Odin, which produced in Zhengzhou daily, also performed poorly. In July this year, the sales volume was only 102 units, down 54.5% year-on-year.
At the beginning of August this year, the official SAIC Roewe W5 had 56 wholesale sales in July. The sales of the Chery Weilin X5 in July were similar to that of 54 vehicles.
