New process of iron ore flotation - pulp concentration and pulping

The adjustment of the slurry before flotation is an important operation in the flotation process, including the determination of the concentration of the slurry and the selection of the mode of slurry adjustment.
(1) Concentration of pulp Pulp concentration refers to the content of solid ore particles in the slurry. There are usually two ways of expressing: (1) liquid-solid ratio—meaning the ratio of liquid to solid weight (or volume) in the slurry, sometimes referred to as dilution; (2) percent solids (%)—express Percentage of solid weight (or volume) in the slurry. Common flotation concentrations in flotation plants.
The slurry concentration is an important process factor in the flotation process, which affects the following technical and economic indicators:
(1) Recovery rate There is a clear regularity between the concentration of pulp and the recovery rate in the flotation of various minerals. When the slurry is very thin, the recovery rate is low, and the concentration of the slurry is gradually increased, and the recovery rate is gradually increased and reaches a maximum value. After the optimum pulp concentration is exceeded, the recovery rate is reduced. This is because the pulp is too rich or too thin will make the flotation machine aeration conditions worse.
(2) Concentrate quality The general rule is that the quality of concentrate is higher when flotation is carried out in a thinner slurry, while the quality of concentrate is decreased when flotation is carried out in a thicker slurry.
(3) Amount of agent "In the flotation, a certain concentration of the drug must be maintained in the slurry to obtain a good flotation index. Therefore, when the slurry is concentrated, the concentration of the drug in the liquid phase increases, and the amount of the drug per ton of ore can be treated. Reduce, on the other hand, when the pulp is thinner, the amount of ore used per ton of ore needs to be increased.
(4) Production capacity of the flotation machine "As the concentration of the slurry increases, the production capacity of the flotation machine (calculated by the amount of treatment) can be increased.
(5) Flotation time "When the slurry is rich, the flotation time will be prolonged, which is beneficial to increase the recovery rate or increase the productivity of the flotation machine.
(6) Hydropower consumption "The thicker the slurry, the less water and electricity consumption per ton of ore will be treated.
In actual production, the optimum slurry concentration during flotation, in addition to the above factors, must also consider the nature of the ore and the specific flotation conditions. The general principle is: flotation of large-density, coarse-grained minerals, often with more concentrated pulp; conversely, when flotation of small density, fine-grained and slime, use thinner pulp, coarse selection is more concentrated The pulp can guarantee high recovery rate and save the medicine. The selection of the dilute concentration is beneficial to improve the quality of the concentrate. The concentration of the sweeping operation is affected by the rough selection and is generally not controlled.
(2) Pulping The slurry can be properly and effectively carried out before it enters the flotation process. In addition to the conventional pulping scheme, there are still graded pulping and aerated pulping schemes.
A graded pulping According to different grain grades, different pulping conditions are required. The pulp is slurried in two or three sections according to the coarse subdivision. The granularity limit of the classification can be determined by experimentation. The figure below shows a two-stage pulping scheme.

In two parts of the pulping scheme, the agent is only added to the coarse sand part. After the coarse sand is adjusted, the fine mud part is flushed into the coarse sand and floated together with it. This scheme is suitable for the fine-grained flotation activity to be higher than the coarse-grained, while the coarse-grained material needs to increase the dose or supplement other strong collectors , so that the treatment of the coarse and fine particles is greatly different. And tend to be uniform. In addition, the concentration of the agent requiring a higher coarse particle is also satisfied by the graded slurry. For example, experience grade lead zinc ore slurried proof, xanthate concentration coarse fraction 7 to 10 times higher than the average conventional mashing, the advantage of both to ensure effective coarse flotation, and improved selectivity.
B Inflatable pulping The difference in surface oxidation between various sulfide minerals during aeration and agitation can expand the difference in their floatability and facilitate the next sorting. E.g. Of slurry containing copper sulphide ore pulp inflatable proof, pneumatic before dosing slurried for 30 minutes ores pyrrhotite and pyrite by oxidation, and maintains its original chalcopyrite floatability. However, the inflated pulping time is too long, the chalcopyrite is also oxidized, and an iron hydroxide film is formed on the surface to reduce the floatability; the separation of the arsenopyrite and the pyrite is also often used to inflate the pulp, making the easily oxidizable poison The sand surface is oxidized to achieve the purpose of separation flotation.
