ZF thruster uses Ecoshield paint to extend life
It is reported that ZF Marine Krimpen applied Subsea Industries' Ecoshield reinforced coatings to its azimuth propeller nozzles and underwater parts for inland waterway operations.
The Dutch-based ZF Marine Krimpen is a division of the German ZF Group. Currently, ZF Marine Krimpen is using Ecoshield coatings on propellers for several US customers to reduce wear and tear in brown water such as the Mississippi River.
ZF Marine hopes to improve the protection of the underwater part of the propeller and to prevent damage caused by cavitation corrosion caused by intrinsic waterways, especially the common waste, sand and silt of the Mississippi River.
