Introduction to microscope usage and precautions

[Microscope use method]

1. How to use a low magnification lens

(1) Take a mirror and place it: The microscope is usually stored in a cabinet or a box. Take it out of the cabinet. Hold the mirror arm with your right hand. Hold the mirror with your left hand. Place the microscope on the test bench in front of your left shoulder. The rear end is 1-2 inches away from the edge of the table for ease of sitting.

(2) Light: Use the thumb and middle finger to move the rotator (don't hold the objective lens to move) so that the low-power lens can be aligned with the hole of the stage (when the rotation sounds, the optical axis of the objective lens is aligned with the lens barrel. center). Open the aperture, raise the light collector, turn the mirror to the light source, observe the left eye on the eyepiece (right eye open), and adjust the direction of the mirror until the light in the field of view is even and bright.

(3) Place the slide specimen: Take a slide specimen on the stage, make sure that the cover slide is facing upwards, must not be placed in reverse, clamp with the pusher spring clip, and then rotate the pusher spiral , Adjust the position to be observed to the center of the clear hole.

(4) Adjust the focal length: Turn the coarse adjuster counterclockwise with your left hand to slowly raise the stage until the objective lens is about 5mm away from the specimen piece. Care should be taken not to observe it on the eyepiece when raising the stage. Be sure to look up from the right side of the stage to prevent it from rising too much, causing damage to the lens or specimen sheet. Then, both eyes open at the same time and observe with the left eye on the eyepiece. The left hand slowly turns the coarse adjuster clockwise, causing the stage to descend slowly until a clear object appears in the field of vision.

If the object image is not at the center of the field of vision, adjust the pusher to center it (note that the direction of the moving glass is the opposite of the direction in which the field of view image moves). If the brightness in the field of vision is not suitable, it can be adjusted by raising or lowering the position of the condenser or opening and closing the aperture. If the focal length of the stage has exceeded the working distance (>5.40mm) and no object image has been seen when adjusting the focal length, this means that If the operation fails, you must re-operate, and you must not rush to raise the stage blindly.

2. How to use the high magnification lens

(1) Choosing a good goal: We must first adjust the part to be further observed under the low magnification lens to the center, and adjust the object image to the most clear degree before we can observe the high magnification lens.

(2) Rotate the converter and replace it with a high power lens. When switching the high magnification lens, the rotation speed should be slow, and observe from the side (prevent the high power lens from colliding with the slide glass). If the high power lens touches the glass slide, the focal length of the low power lens is not Tuned, should be re-operation.

(3) Adjust the focal length: After converting the high magnification lens, observe with the left eye on the eyepiece. At this time, one can generally see a less clear object image. The spiral of the fine adjuster can be moved about 0.5-1 circle counterclockwise, that is, Get clear objects (do not use coarse adjusters!)

If the brightness of the field of view is not suitable, the light collector and aperture can be used to adjust. If you need to replace the slide specimen, you must rotate the coarse adjuster clockwise (don't turn the wrong direction) to lower the stage so that the slide specimen can be removed.

[Notes for Use of Microscope]

1. When holding the mirror, it must be the right-handed arm and the left-handed holder. Do not lift the device with one hand so as to avoid parts falling off or colliding with other places.

2. Take it lightly and gently. Do not place the microscope on the edge of the bench so as not to touch it.

3. To keep the microscope clean, the optics and lighting parts can only be wiped with a wiping mirror. Do not wipe or wipe with a cloth. The mechanical part is wiped with a cloth.

4. Water droplets, alcohol, or other medicines should never come in contact with the lens and the stage. If it is contaminated, wipe it off immediately.

5. When placing the slide specimen, align the center of the light hole, and do not reverse the slide glass to prevent squeezing the slide glass or damaging the objective lens.

6. To develop the habit of opening your eyes at the same time, observe the visual field with your left eye, and use the right eye for drawing.

7. Do not remove the eyepieces at will to prevent dust from falling into the objective lens and do not arbitrarily disassemble any parts to prevent damage.

8. After use, it must be restored before it can be returned to the mirror box. The steps are: remove the specimen piece, turn the rotator to move the lens out of the light hole, lower the stage, lay the mirror, and lower the light collector (but do not touch the mirror. ), close the aperture, push the film back, cover the silk cloth and cover, and put it back into the experiment cabinet. Finally fill in the registration form. (Note: The mirror should normally be placed vertically, but sometimes the condenser is not lifted to the proper height. When the stage is lowered, the aperture will be damaged, so change it to flat.)
